Ancol, Jakarta, Friday, August 24, 2018 — The first day of sailing events at the Asian Games began yesterday, with 15 sailors across 9 class completing two races.

Wind conditions were good, with wind speed at about 14 knots, dropping to around 10 knots towards the end of racing.

The 49erFX girls Kimberly Lim and Cecilia Low performed strongly, finishing first in both races of the day.  Ryan Lo had a strong first race, finishing first, but dropped to 4th place in the second race. He finished overall 2nd in Day 1.

“The team is young and they’re pushing themselves really hard. At this level, they constantly need to bring their A-game to the races. A single mistake is easily compounded, especially given the high quality of racing here at the Asian Games,” said TC Chua, Head of High Performance at SingaporeSailing.
